I write and speak about the intersection of markets, policy and politics.

As a senior fellow at Bruegel, the Brussels-based independent think tank, I offer non-partisan insights and research on European Union and transatlantic politics and economic issues, and I host The Sound of Economics podcast. My specialties include public borrowing, capital markets and financial stability. I write a quarterly column on foreign policy for Internationale Politik Quarterly, the English language magazine of the German Foreign Affairs Council (DGAP).

Based in Belgium since 2011, I come to public policy after two decades in journalism as a news reporter with publications including Bloomberg News, Dow Jones/The Wall Street Journal, Market News International, Reuters Breakingviews and the Financial Times.
